Mark A. Collin is author and director of The Toolbox Project. He has been studying and practicing in the field of Humanistic, Existential, Jungian and Transpersonal psychologies for thirty seven years.
He has a private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Santa Rosa, California.
After working for fifteen years in the public schools, he has written and developed a comprehensive and systemic curriculum, K-8th, in Social and Emotional Learning. The Toolbox Project is currently being implemented in various school districts in Northern California. He is currently seeking a publisher for The Toolbox Project curriculum, Grades K-5.
- 2003- Published an article titled “The Toolbox” in the March-May issue of the “Noetic Sciences Review, Exploring The Frontiers Of Consciousness,” Number 63.
- 2002-03- Mark was invited to Washington D.C. to present his work and training to the Family Therapy For Communities summer institute for high school students .He has taught in the Health and Education Department at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa, California for over ten years. He specialized in teaching Anger Management while consulting on the development of curriculum for the department.
- 2001- Published his first article: “The Missing Piece, “A Social and Emotional Literacy Program for Public Schools” in The Lomi Somatics Forum, Winter issue Vol. 5 #1.
- 2000- The Toolbox Program was awarded the Jack London Award for Educational Excellence from Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park, California.
- 1999- The Toolbox Program was awarded the “Program of Excellence” from the Sonoma County Office of Education.
- 1993-2002- Began the research and developed of The Toolbox Project at Montgomery Elementary School, Cazadero, California.
- 1989-1990- Post-graduate work in the Counseling/Psychology Department at Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park, California.
- 1976-1978- Graduated from a PH.D. program at California Institute of
Transpersonal Psychology, Palo Alto. He was advanced to candidacy and took a leave of absence after completing a Masters degree in clinical Psychology. Studied the Martial Art of Aikido, “The Art of Reconciliation” with Robert Frager and Frank Doran in Palo Alto, California. - 1972- Graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Sonoma State University in The School Of Expressive Arts.
Mark describes himself as a husband, father, builder, gardener, musician and woodcutter. He has been leading groups of families into the Sierra Nevada back country every summer for the past twenty four years.
